Our faculty and staff are working hard to prepare the classrooms and campus of HHS for the “Best School Year EVER!”  Students in grades 9-12 visited campus from 11-1 on Thursday, July 29th to pick up lockers, schedules, and parking passes.  Students in the 9th grade will meet on Tuesday, August 3rd for High School 101, which will begin at 5:00 p.m. in the HHS gym.  HS 101 will inform incoming freshmen of different course and diploma options, graduation requirements, along with providing a tour of the freshmen academy building, so if you are a parent or guardian of an upcoming 9th grader, please plan to join us on Tuesday, August 3rd

On Thursday, August 5th, our faculty and staff will meet students and families from all grades in the back parking lot of City Hall for the “Back to School Block Party.”  We hope to see all students enjoying their families and friends, while eating snacks, playing games, posing for pics in the photo booths, and listening to live entertainment.

All students will return to HHS on Wednesday, August 11th, to begin the first day of the 2021-22 school year.  We are watching and listening to Covid guidelines and taking extra precautions to keep our students, faculty, and staff safe and healthy.  Please continue to check your school app and social media sites for latest updates regarding Covid precautions and/or changes.

Sports and extra-curricular activities are a big part of the high school environment.  On Monday, August 16th, we will host our annual “Meet the Lions” event.  “Meet the Lions” will begin at 7:00 in the HHS Gym.  Please make plans to meet, greet, and welcome our Lions, as we kick off a great school year and athletic seasons for our students.

In spite of Covid, we had a great year last year!  Our students produced gains in ACT scores, among other academic benchmarks.  We are continually striving to seek ways to better equip our students for the changing world they will enter upon graduation.  We believe student success depends on collaboration between school, home, and community.  Thank you, in advance, for the role you plan in your support of our teachers, administration, and school programs.  We appreciate YOU!
