Students who are in attendance every day from September 3rd until November 13th will be presented with a gold medal and will be entered to win some amazing prizes. We have gift cards, Haleyville swag, movie tickets, a TV, and the grand prize is a Play Station 5. These prizes have all been donated by our community partners who will be featured over the next few weeks. We love our community partners! HCS understands that there are times when missing a day is unavoidable. For those who miss only 1 day, they will be given a Silver medal and a popcorn snack. If a student only missed 2 days, they will still be given a Bronze medal. As with the Olympics, everyone should strive to Go for Gold. Attendance is essential to student success. HCS Block Party is Thursday night! We will be ready to welcome students and parents at 5:00 pm. Meet the Lions will begin at 6:30 pm. Those who are setting up booths can begin setting up at 3:30 pm and should be ready by 4:45 pm. As a reminder, those with booths will need to supply your own tables, chairs, and tents if you would like one. This is going to be a fun night for our schools! Notice of Budget Hearing: Haleyville City Board of Education announces the first budget hearing for the Haleyville School System 2025 fiscal year. The hearing will be August 19th, 2024 at 4:30 pm and will be held at the Haleyville Board of Education Conference Room, located at 2011 20th Street, Haleyville, AL 35565. This meeting is open to the public.
Friday, August 9, 2024 will be Maddie Bishop Day in HCS! Maddie is a Freshman at HHS this year who is battling childhood cancer. We will have hat day at each school. You can make a $1.00 donation to Maddie's health expenses to wear a hat. Of course, we encourage you to give as you can- $5.00, $10.00, $20.00 would be great. You can also have your students make cards, bring gift cards, flowers, games- anything you would like to send to Maddie to brighten her day. Students can turn items in at each of our school offices. Maddie's favorite colors are baby blue and baby pink. We encourage all of our HCS family to wear those colors on Friday. You can also make posts on social media using the hashtag #FightLikeMaddie so Maddie and her family can see the love HCS and our community have for her. The HCS Block Party is just around the corner! This year the party will be held on August 15th, 2024 from 5:00-6:30 pm at Haleyville High School. We will set up inside the gate along the fence at the High School football field on the home side near the press box as well as in the grassy area in front of HHS if needed. We will have booths with free food, games, treats, and inflatables. The Block Party will be followed by Meet the Lions at 6:30 pm on the field.
We have had wonderful businesses, churches, medical facilities, and municipal groups join in and help us to make this a fun night for the kids in the past. We invite you to do that again this year. Please complete the Google Form below and come have fun with us and our HCS Kids. We will begin set up at 4:15 pm to avoid school traffic. Please bring tents, tables, chairs, and anything you would like to set up for your booth.
