Friday, August 9, 2024 will be Maddie Bishop Day in HCS! Maddie is a Freshman at HHS this year who is battling childhood cancer. We will have hat day at each school. You can make a $1.00 donation to Maddie's health expenses to wear a hat. Of course, we encourage you to give as you can- $5.00, $10.00, $20.00 would be great. You can also have your students make cards, bring gift cards, flowers, games- anything you would like to send to Maddie to brighten her day. Students can turn items in at each of our school offices. Maddie's favorite colors are baby blue and baby pink. We encourage all of our HCS family to wear those colors on Friday. You can also make posts on social media using the hashtag #FightLikeMaddie so Maddie and her family can see the love HCS and our community have for her. The HCS Block Party is just around the corner! This year the party will be held on August 15th, 2024 from 5:00-6:30 pm at Haleyville High School. We will set up inside the gate along the fence at the High School football field on the home side near the press box as well as in the grassy area in front of HHS if needed. We will have booths with free food, games, treats, and inflatables. The Block Party will be followed by Meet the Lions at 6:30 pm on the field. We have had wonderful businesses, churches, medical facilities, and municipal groups join in and help us to make this a fun night for the kids in the past. We invite you to do that again this year. Please complete the Google Form below and come have fun with us and our HCS Kids. We will begin set up at 4:15 pm to avoid school traffic. Don’t Miss the FUN! On Thursday, the teachers and staff of HCS will be riding our bus routes with treat cups for all HCS students. These treats will also contain a flyer with all important back-to-school information. This event is for ALL HCS students. We hope to see all of you out at our bus stops and along our routes so we can welcome you back to school with a cool treat! We will leave HCS at 2:00 pm. We should be running all routes between 2:00-3:00 pm. If you are unsure where the routes are, you can come to the visitor parking lot at the HHS football field (across from Haleyville Middle School) around 2:45 pm and stand by the HHS sign and a bus will pull over and give you a treat there. We are #OnAMission to have a wonderful year and look forward to seeing all of our amazing students on Thursday! We would like to thank the following businesses for contributing to the treat cups- Lawson Realty, Goar’s Supermarket, Bank First, and Listerhill Credit Union. #HomeOfChampions

Don't ever underestimate the power of adult learning. These two groups are working in two different locations on LETRS(science of reading). HES appreciates all of the teachers who have completed and/or completing the two year course. HES students will be the beneficiaries.

Once again the hallways had been filled with scampering feet, giggling voices, and smiles that lite up the building. On Friday, summer camp at HES came to a close and the buses pulled out of the parking lot for the last time. HES looks forward to seeing you again in August.
